Pancratium tenuifolium. The only species of Pancratium native to southern Africa. It is widespread in sub-Saharan Africa ranging from West Africa through East Africa to Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, where it has been recorded in the Kruger National Park.

Pancratium tenuifolium seems to favour sandy soils and areas that are seasonally marshy. It is found on savannahs - in the short grass of the coastal plains.

The native range of this species is Tropical & S. Africa. It is a bulbous geophyte and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.
