Brillantaisia nitens Lindau (Acanthaceae) is an herbaceous shrub of about 1.5 m high found in Central and West Africa. It is widely used in African traditional medicine (Burkill, 1985, Adjanohoun et al., 1996) to treat skin infections and pain like toothache.
