Description:
Rhizome oblique, woody. Culms 40-65 cm high, angles scabrid. Leaves 30-45 x 0.2-0.4 cm; midrib strongly depressed; margin recurved. Panicle 15-25 cm long bracts 6-12 cm long, filiform. Spikelets mostly pedicelled, 5-7 x 3 mm, solitary, acute; glumes 6-10, lower 3-5 sterile; fertile glumes 4 x 2 mm, aristate, 1-nerved, brown; anthers 1.5 mm long, obtuse. Nut 2.5 x 1.5 mm biconvex, striated, brown spots in each striations; bristles 6, retrorsely barbed, golden yellow.
