A perennial that can grow up to 1m in height along roadsides, fields and orchards. The leaves are either eaten raw in salad or cooked mixed with herbs and used in soups, omelettes and pies. The dried leaves are also used to make tea and the roots are roasted and used as a coffee substitute.
