Annual or biennial, up to 25 cm tall herb, covered with sticky sessile or stipitate glands. Stem woody at the base, branches erect, terete, with 10-25 mm long internodes. Leaves simple, narrow to broadly oblanceolate or ovate, 6-25 mm long, (3-) 5-20 mm broad, mucronate, obtuse; petiole 2-6 mm long; stipular spines aculeate, 5-25 mm long, 3 somewhat equal to leaves and one longer. Flowers shortly pedicellate, pinkish-purple, 8-10 mm across. Sepals ovate, c. 3 mm long, c. 1.5 mm broad, glandular outside, deciduous. Petals obovate, c. 5 mm long, c. 2 mm broad, obtuse. Stamens with c. 4 mm long filaments. Capsule c. 4 mm long, 5 mm broad, pedicel reflexed, shorter to longer than fruit.
Distribution: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Aden and Oman.
