  Description: Culms tufted, 15-55 cm, smooth. Leaves shorter than culms, flat, plicate, acuminate, to 0.35 cm wide; sheaths reddish-brown. Inflorescence simple or subcompound, to 3.5 cm; involucral bracts 3-5, unequal, overtopping, to 10 cm. Rays 2-5, subsessile. Spikes broadly ovoid, 8-16-spikeletted, to 2.5 cm. Spikelets digitate, linear-lanceolate, compressed, acute, 10-40-flowered, 1-2 cm; rachilla persistent, flexuous, narrowly winged. Glumes ovate or oblong, to 0.2 cm, chartaceous, acute, muticous or mucronulate, sides nerveless, margin white-hyaline; keel greenish, 3-nerved. Stamen(s) (1)2. Nut oblong(-obovoid), biconvex, apiculate, stalked, dark brownish, c. 0.1 cm.
