  Description: Annuals, rhizome short. Culms to 35 cm tall, 0.1 cm thick, tufted. Leaves to 20 x 0.3 cm, acute at tip, hairy below; sheath pubescent on one face. Panicle 20-25 cm long, partial panicles 4-5, distant, 2-3 cm long, branches glabrous, 3-winged; bracts leafy. Female spikelets 5-6 mm long, ovate, acute; glumes 3, 4.5 mm long, shortly aristate, pale brown. Nut 2.2 x 1.2 mm, shortly apiculate, tessellate in vertical lines; lobes of disc sub-obtuse. Male spikelets 4 mm long, oblong; glumes oblong; stamens 2, free, anthers 1.5 mm long.
