Default Ethiopian orchids

So I went to Ethiopia during their rainy season, and did tons of hiking. Being the student botanist that I am, I basically disregarded the animals and took tons of plant pics.
Here are orchids That I found. The first three pics are from the wet eastern side Mountain jungles, eastern slope of the mountain that is. Very wet, very cool. So very comfy actually. All three pics are different plants, but probably the same species.

The rest of the pics I took on the dry forest side of the same mountain. Bale mountain. In this forest you would also find tons of wild Coffee, well Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee.

I can't believe I missed this thread AND you only had one comment on this. How cute is that?! The micro minis are so under appreciated. Thanks for the cool photos.

Thanks for the comments, I figured just about everyone was uninterested. Hehe. Well let me tell you one thing, it was super exciting walking into a rain forest for the first time in my life and the first plants I see are epiphtic orchids and ferns and pipers! I was in heaven.

At first, I thought the first leafless one might have been Microcoelia smithii, but it has more of a Soleangis growth habit of opposite alternate root growth along the stem opposed to the Microcoelia's habit of growing more clustered orientated roots.

Ha, I hope that helps.

Fantastic, I would love to visit Ethiopia on day, I've only past through the capital Addis Ababa never been into country side. Many of our orchids are of the same genus but different species. I live in Zimbabwe in south (just north of south africa) so many of our orchids are similar but our environment is a lot more dry and arid. Sadly most of our montane rain forests have long since been chopped down and made into charcoal.

Great people, orchids and coffee. Wow. Cherry on that cake is wonderful cuisine. If they could get their politics stable, it's a great country to visit.
