Found in Burundi, Zaire, Tanzania Angola, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe in sandy woodlands, rocky hillsides in sandy soils at elevations of 800 to 1650 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a mostly subterranean, conical, pseudobulbous growth giving rise to 5 to 9, forming a fan, linear to linear-lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves that are starting to develop at blooming occuring in the spring on 1 to 2, erect, laxly few to several flowered inflorescence with an ovate bract in the basal half and linear, acuminate floral bracts
