Found in Zaire, Angola, Zambia, Cape Province, Natal, Swaziland and Transvaal in sour grassland and marshy areas in full sun at elevations close to sea level to quite high as a small to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with leathery, stiffly erect, only partly matured at blooming leaves that blooms in the spring to early summer on an erect, terminal, to 10" to 36" [25 to 90 cm] long, 4 to 25 flowered inflorescence
