Found in Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cameroom, Rwanda, Zaire, Uganada, Angola, Zambia, and Natal South Africa in dense forests adn gallery forests near rivers and swamps at elevations of 1700 to 2200 as a medium to large sized, cool growing epiphyte with an elongate stem carrying linear, ligulate to oblong, obtusely bilobed apically, rounded lobe leaves that blooms in the spring and summer, on an axilalry, 6" [15 cm] long, 7 to 15 flowered inflorescence with extremely fragrant flowers
