The Oriental plane tree is a widespread tree in the east and in southern Europe. In southern Europe, the plane is just as popular as a street tree as the London plane in northern Europe.
Tree profile
The leaves of the Oriental plane tree are fresh green and usually lobed. The petiole is shorter than London plane tree. The leaf margin is smooth.
The flowers are similar in globular inflorescences of the later fruit.
The fruit is a spherical collecting fruit, which is about 2 cm (0.8 in) in diameter. The fruits often hang late as the spring on the trees.
The twigs are greenish to brown with small lenticels. The buds are green, thick and protruding.
