Spondias venulosa "Caja Grande" Seeds
Spondias venulosa or "Caja Grande" is a semi-drops leaves annuallydeciduous tree that can be found in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador near rivers or on sand/earth left from rivers or floodingalluvial plains in the rainforest. It grows up to 12-18 meters tall and has a roundish canopy of a treecrown with pendant branches. The straight, cylindrical the trunk of a treebole can reach a diameter of 40-60cm with a slightly corky bark.
Although the tree is occasionally cultivated, it is more often harvested from the wild for its edible fruit, which is locally consumed. The fruit is typically consumed raw or made into juice. It has a juicy, fibrous, acidic, and sweet pulp. The fruit itself is a green/yellow a fleshy fruit with thin skin and a central stone containing the seeddrupe that can be 5cm or more in length.
