Description
Understorey tree up to 17 m tall and 49 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves in whorls, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, usually whitish below. Flowers ca. 2 mm diameter, white-pink, placed in bundles. Fruits ca. 5 mm diameter, green-blue, fleshy drupe, placed on enlarged disc-shaped flower-base.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, coastal, keranga, peat-swamp and sub-montane forests up to 1500 m altitude. Usually on alluvial (periodically inundated and swamps) sites and along rivers, but also found on hillsides. Usually on sandy soils, but also found on limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Uses
The wood is locally used for construction.

Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
