Etymology of Arachniodes:
Gk. arachne, arachnion = the spider or its web; -odes = resembling; alluding to the finely divided pentagonal outline of the lamina of some species (Flora of Zimbabwe) or to the indumentum of the fern. (It has also been suggested that Blume (the author) saw fungal hyphae or spider webs on his original material.)
