Etymology of Huperzia:
For Johann Peter Huperz (1771–1816), German botanist, physician and fern horticulturist, specialist on ferns of Australia, who wrote a book on fern propagation, Specimen Inaugurale Medico-botanicum de Filicum Propagatione (1798).
