Musings on the natural environment of the Berea, Durban, Natal
The first time I saw this pretty lily flower was in my Manor Gardens’ garden. At the time I did not realise it was a wild flower. Later I found it flowering at the Msinsi Nature Reserve, where it grows in the semi-shaded forest margins and on shaded southern facing banks. Its name is the Small Red Iris (Freesia laxa).
