Brachyglottis Silver Doormouse, commonly known as Senecio is a dense, bushy evergreen shrub which has such wonderful presence, with oval shaped leaves of light green and grey colouring, almost furry to touch.
In the months of June through to September the Brachyglottis Silver Doormouse produces these tall stems with daisy like, rich summer yellow flowers. A great allrounder, this garden shrub is often grown as a specimen plant, all year interest and stunning colours, although can be planted in flower beds, borders and can make a great container plant, perfect for a sunny balcony!
Brachyglottis Silver Doormouse care
The Brachyglottis Silver Doormouse thrives in a sunny location with moist, well drained soils, good for most gardens, and hardy from winter frosts and very tolerant. We often recommend the Brachyglottis Silver Doormouse to gardeners due to its ease of growing. Generally disease and pest free and requiring minimal pruning. To encourage a bushy growth and maintain the shrubs shape we would look to cut back every 2 years in summer months, it’s scary but you won’t regret the growth this encourages next season.
