Experimental: Caring for Eulophia petersii

So a few weeks back I bought an eulophia petersii from a friend in the hope of keeping it alive. I mean, it’s a plant I’ve never tried before, a terrestrial orchid that seems to grow in the middle of a desert.

It’s got nice flowers!

A desert Singapore is not. Nontheless, I might be able to at the plot. So I picked up one…

And then I basically left it there at the plot to do it’s own thing. I feel like with orchids, 80% is having the right environment while 20% is additional feeding and repotting (at least, that’s been my experience).

So, left out under the rain. I’m actually re-considering moving it back into the sheltered but bright (and perhaps hanging it up?) but we’ll see how it goes. The alternative is to move it home for the heat, because I feel this plant likes it hot.

It grew a new shoot while at plot, so perhaps it’s current spot is good for it. Might move it back. I’ll probably update more as we go along, this is pretty experimental.

I’m also planning to try something with the E. graminea, but that’s a tale for another time.
