Any suggestions please.
Found on Samarai Island Papua New Guinea

After doing some research I've came across a few species that I think are likely.

Species: Neoboutonia macrocalyx
Neoboutonia macrocalyx

Species: Aleurites moluccanus
Candlenut Tree (Aleurites moluccanus)
(Some of the pictures on the page are incorrect. Here is an actual photo.)






Assuming both of the species I posted are incorrect, I did manage to narrow it down the Euphorbiaceae family.

Neoboutonia macrocalyx looks like a close match.

I had not considered Euphorbiaceae
I should have explained that this was more of a low growing shrub than a tree.

I have not come across Neoboutonia macrocalyx before, so have tried to research in on www.On this site are several images.

The 8th pic shows the flowers as upward growing panicles...where as my pics show downward pendulous flowers.

Your other suggestion of Aleurites moluccanus , I can rule out . It is a tree I know well. Again the flowers are in panicles and it has very large seed pods.

Many thanks ..I too found that site but before you put me in the hunt for Euphorbiaceae.

Looking on www a lot fits......it is found in the area.
It is a medicinal shrub.
