Galphimia gracilis (Shower of Gold)

Galphimia gracilis
Shower of Gold, Slender Goldshower

Galphimia gracilis makes a great background plant here in the Southwest, reaching about 4-6' tall and wide. Abundant clusters of golden flowers are produced at branch tips from mid-spring through fall, followed by small round fruits. These fruits can be trimmed off to encourage more blossoms. Plants will be evergreen in frost free areas, but will freeze to the ground below the mid 20's. Galphimia will recover from the roots in the springtime once the ground warms up. If not frost damaged, plants can also be cut to the ground in early spring to promote a nice compact habit. Plant in full sun to part shade for the best bloom show.
