Little Zebrina Alocasia
About Little Zebrina Alocasia
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

Finding light for Little Zebrina Alocasia in your home
Little Zebrina Alocasia may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Little Zebrina Alocasia in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Little Zebrina Alocasia
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Little Zebrina Alocasia after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Rehab Alocasia Update/question Here he is tonight. I repotted him this past Friday night, so we are ending day 3, and I’ve now learned that what I thought were new leaves coming in may be blooms instead?? Are all three of these blooms? Do I leave them for him to gain nutrients back, or do I trim them to focus the energy on healing from root rot? His leaves have dropped significantly since repotting, and the largest one is turning yellow all over. I fertilized him weakly when I repotted. I have a humidifier that runs overnight keeping the room he’s in about 50-60%, and have a dimmable grow light next to him for 12hrs. Any additional suggestions or do I just keep watching and praying he recovers? #AlocasiaAddicts #alocasiaCuprea #Alocasia #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #rehabplants #GregGang

Why did this happen 😭 TL;DR: My mini alocasia (that’s what it is right..??) wilted all but one leaf. It received a new red/purpley grow light with its pals a few months ago. But it never seemed to thrive since I got the thing. It was also overdue for a reporting. I’ve always sort of struggled with this plant, I feel like it’s always been a bit leggy or never grew bigger leaves. Idk. Only thing that changed recently is Several months ago, I installed a gifted new grow light over a few of my plants. It’s more powerful than my others and is a purple colored one. It has been sitting right next to my asparagus fern, dotted begonia, neon pothos and prayer plant, none of which have had problems (except for maybe the nerve plant dropped it’s longer trailing branches, but it’s currently blooming and sprouting new growth from the top). It’s decline seems sudden, but I guess it’s also been sort of hidden behind the other guys. The current one leaf it has left seems green and rigid though. I was going to repot it soon. Is it just root bound and suffocated? Or is it light related? I do feel like it changed after the new lighting but it could be coincidence. This plant has been difficult for me. Any help on saving it and tips for helping it thrive is appreciated. (Included a pic of the begonia it’s right next to. Does that seem ok too or no??) #help #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #SadPlant #Begonia #GrowLights #Dyingplant

I just got my alocasia Polly less than 2 weeks ago. She seems very unhappy with the change in her environment. 2 leaves wilted over completely & had to be pruned. Remaining leaves are curling around the edges. What will make her happier?

Crispy Tips? Is anyone clipping their crispy tips? Just purchased mine and it had a crispy tip upon purchase. Also what the average time for a new leaf to sprout?

What’s Wrong With My Alocasia Black Velvet? I’ve had this alocasia since march 26 (i got it for my birthday), and i’ve noticed that when i either mist or have it next to my humidifier leaves begin to yellow and turn brown at the end. this is the third leaf to have done this, and i have stopped misting in general since the last 2 leaves ended up this way. what’s going on? is it something fungal or bacterial? should i cut it?

Anything wrong with my Alocasia in sphagnum moss? Hello guys! I recently bought my first two Alocasias, a Frydek and a Ninja, and planted them both in sphagnum moss as I read Alocasias tend to like it. I noticed though, that the moss keeps them VERY moist and my Frydek now lets her leafs hang a little. She’s currently growing but I’m wondering if maybe moss is too wet for her? Or will she cheer up once she’s properly acclimated? #Alocasia #AlocasiaFrydek #sphagnummoss

Plant is losing a lot of leafs and remaining leafs have unusual spots please help! My plant up until now has had no problems with putting out new leaves and looking healthy. However, recently she has lost so many leaves and her remaining leaves have some spots that I do not recognise. I repotted recently to try and fix the problem but nothing seems to help what’s going on?

I’m trying to keep this sport variegation Hello everyone, so my silver dragon happens to have some sport variegation.. yay so exciting!!.. but I was wondering if anyone would know how I could try to promote more variegated leaves because the next one is starting to unravel and it appears to have no varigation, so idk if I’ll see it later as the leave matures and hardens, or if it will always be really spotty on the variegation. #variegatedplants #AlocasiaAddicts #variegation #NewGrowth #GrowLights #HappyPlants

Wondering if he’s growing offsets or his roots are coming up? New to black velvet Alocasias but never had an Alocasia produce an offset before soo I’m getting excited. Want to know before my head gets too big and explodes from joy!
