Caper Bush: Evergreen, sprawling shrub 2-3' tall with large swollen roots and semi-succulent heart-shaped leaves with a bronze or reddish tinge when emerging. Flower buds (the edible caper) appear in late spring to summer. Delicately scented pinkish-white flowers. Prefers a hot sunny location with little or no water. A simple rule of thumb is that the caper bush should be able to grow where an olive tree will grow. Works well as a groundcover, specimen shrub or espalier. Seacoast tolerant
