Chenille Plant

Woody shrub to 1 m high. Leaf blade ovate, 40-170 mm long, 40-120 mm wide; upper surface hispid, lower surface becoming hairless; venation palminerved with 5 veins from base and with 7 or 8 lateral veins per side of midrib further up blade; margins shallowly scalloped; tip long-pointed; base rounded to weakly cordate. Inflorescences axillary and solitary, racemose or spike-like, usually unisexual. Female flowers with styles red, 3-5 mm long. Syn. A. sanderiana K. Schum.
