Description
Stem tufted, to 70 cm, rigid, 2 mm wide. Leaves flat or folded, 2-6 x 0.1-0.2 cm, scabrid, apex acuminate; ligule a dense fringe of short hairs; sheath fuscous or grey, margin hyaline. Inflorescence simple or subcompound, to 3 cm; involucral bracts shorter than inflorescence, to 1 cm. Spikelet solitary, ovoid or oblong, 0.5-1 cm, pinkish-brown; rachilla winged; glumes obovate-orbicular, to 4 mm, thick, sides nerveless, apex puberulous, mucronulate; keel 1-nerved. Stamens 3; filaments to 2.5 mm; anthers linear, to 2 mm. Style 2-fid, flat, ciliate, base dilated; stigmas papillose. Nut obovoid, biconvex, 1 mm long, fulvous, glossy, smooth, umbonulate, stipitate.
