Abstract
Oberonia is a large epiphytic genus with 150 - 200 species centred in South and Southeast Asia but distributed widely to Africa, the Mascarene Islands, China, Australia and the Pacific Islands in lowland and mid-montane forests. Plants are easily recognized because leaves are equitant in most species. However, species identification is difficult if a plant is not in bloom (Figs. Ob 75.1, Ob 75.2, Ob 75.3, and Ob 75.4). Inflorescence is terminal, racemose, unbranched (Fig. Ob 75.1). Flowers are tiny, non- resupinate, numerous, arranged in whorls (Fig. Ob 75.2). Colours are green, greenish yellow, orange, red and brown (Fig. Ob 75.5). Some attractive species are occasionally seen in collections (Figs. Ob 75.5 and Ob 75.6).
