Clumps of narrow pungent leaves are variegated pink, green and white in spring, green and white during the hotter periods of summer. Lavender pink edible flowers taste like garlic, but the foliage is too strong for culinary use. Can be grown in wet or dry conditions.
Variegated society garlic tends to be smaller and slower growing than the species. It generally grows to just 1 ft tall, and the clump expands slowly to 18 inches wide. Tolerates shadier conditions, growing well in almost full shade.
