Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' is a member of the Commelinaceae family of plants and is pretty rare to find for sale. Initially one might think just by looking at this plant that it might be related to Cryptanthus as it does have that look, but it is actually closely related to Spiderwort. Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' works great as a houseplant as it is easy to grow and has a great look. It can grow to about 16" tall and can get just as wide but pruning can keep it under control. It does flower on long, think spikes but the highlight of this unique plant is not so much the flowers as it is the foliage
Watering is simple, just water well in the growing season from spring to autumn, then reduce watering in the winter when the plant's growth has slowed down
