Cleome gynandra is a ANNUAL growing to 1.3 m (4ft 3in).It is hardy to zone (UK) 9 and is frost tender. It is in leaf from May to October, in flower from July to August, and the seeds ripen from August to September. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs).Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers dry or moist soil.
It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 18 - 25°c, but can tolerate 10 - 35°c
