Alstroemeria psittacina (Inca lily, New Zealand Christmas bells, Parrot lily, Peruvian lily)

A tuberous, plant native to Brazil & Argentina, they grow best in full morning sun & some afternoon shade and thrive in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. They will go dormant if the weather is too hot or dry. Plant tubers in spring, early summer or autumn when temperatures do not exceed 20°C. Soak tubers for 24 hours before planting to jump-start germination. Plant with the pointy side facing up. The roots resent disturbance so plant 15 - 20cm deep & 60cm apart.

Plants
