Plants annual or perennial herbs. Leaves alternate, oblong-ovate to spatulate, pinnatified to entire. bases subauriculate. Inflorescences open, corymbose or paniculate. Capitula disciform; phyllaries in 2-3 series; receptacles more or less swollen, domed, without bracts subtending the flowers; outer flowers in many rows, female, fertile, tubular, 2-3(-4)-toothed, sparsely glandular; inner flowers fewer, bisexual, 4-5-lobed; anthers with obtuse bases and tips with sterile, triangular; style branches with sterile lanceolate appendages longer than the receptive portion. Achenes obovoid, slightly flattened, glabrous, glandular near the bases and tops; pappuses absent, of a few, caducous bristles, or a small rime.
Dichrocephala includes only 3 species. They are native to tropical regions of Africa, Madagascar, and Asia. Two of the three species are known from Somaliland; none are known from Somalia.
