Asystasia intrusa: Common Asystasia

Asystasia intrusa is a common weed in Singapore. It grows along roadsides, vacant lands, wastelands, gardens and parks as well as in open areas in jungles. It grows prolifically, as it has high shade tolerance and produces many seeds. Once established, it spreads rapidly.

This pretty Common Asystasia [Asystasia intrusa] is the caterpillar foodplant of two very pretty butterflies, the Eggfly and the Blue Pansy. Its purple-tongued white flowers are also lure for nectar.
