Entry From
Flora Capensis, Vol 7, page 149, (1900) Author: (By C. B. CLARKE.)
Names
MARISCUS macrocarpus Kunth [family CYPERACEAE], Enum. ii. 120
Cyperus macrocarpus Boeck. [family CYPERACEAE], in Linnæa, xxxvi. 380.
Cyperus flavus Ridley [family CYPERACEAE], in Trans. Linn. Soc. ser. 2, ii. 144.
Notes
This form (as the two preceding) differs from M. sieberianus by the much broader nuts, giving the ripe spikelets a conspicuously triangular section. M. macrocarpus is exceedingly like M. flavus, Vahl, var. humilis, Benth. (which var. has 2–3 nuts to the spikelet), differing only by the less bract-like basal glume; it is less surprising that Ridley unites them than that Bentham separates them.
