Junod remarked on the plant: “ Sitsinyambita, generic name of Striga, applied especially to S. lutea, that is to say, the herb which hinders the cooking-pot, because the negroes pretend that such is the result produced when the plant or one of its congeners is thrown on the hearth fire (Schinz, l.c.).
