Notes
E.M. & W. s.n. (LISC) growing in a garden at Marracuene, Mozambique, has glabrous fruits c. 6 x 2·5 cm. Apart from the much larger fruits (possibly the effect of cultivation) it closely resembles T. gazensis but might be T. gazensis x sambesiaca.Typically this species has nearly glabrous leaves usually with crenulate margins (a very unusual feature in the Combretaceae). Griffiths (loc. cit.) has included specimens such as Wild 4344 (FHO; SRGH) = GHS 44793 from the Belingwe Distr. with thicker very hairy leaves and entire margins which may be a distinct serpentine tolerant species or subspecies.
