Notes
Monopetalanthus richardsiae, with which T. burttii grows, has a similar geographical range. Wigg in F.H. 1888! from Kigoma District, Lugufu Forest (near Lugufu Station, Central Line), 17 July 1944, is very possibly young sterile growth of T. burttii. The leaflets are up to 10.5 cm. long. Two further gatherings have been made in Kigoma District, E. of Kokoti, Mihumo, 25 Dec. 1963, Azuma 1007 ! & Kabogo Mts., 4 Oct. 1962, Toyoshima ! The first is of leafy twigs only, the second of two pods only. They are quite possibly conspecific, but there is no certainty. The leafy specimen has large leafy ovate-falcate stipules and on this character it might be T. dewildemaniana Harms from the Congo and Angola. Identification of such inadequate material is little more than guesswork. Properly collected specimens are wanted from this area.
