Information
Perennial, densely caespitose and erect with long filiform leaf-blades to ascending and wiry with short flat blades; culms 15–35 cm. high. Leaf-blades filiform or flat, 2–16 cm. long and up to 3 mm. wide. Panicle broadly ovate, 3–8 cm. long, open. Spikelets 4–11-flowered, ovate-oblong to broadly ovate, 2–5 mm. long, dark brownish red, breaking up from the apex, the rhachilla fragile; glumes lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 1.3–2.5 mm. long, pilose, acute to acuminate; lemmas ovate-elliptic, 2–2.4 mm. long, pilose with tubercle-based hairs, obtuse to subacute and mucronate; palea glabrous on the keels, but pilose on back and flanks with stiff hairs 0.5 mm. long; anthers 3, 0.7 mm. long. Caryopsis ellipsoid, 0.7 mm. long.
