Description: This is a medium-sized tree that has an oval canopy with ascending branches. The bark is brown-grey with a cracked texture and the foliage is green, pinnate in shape. In autumn its leaves turn shades of yellow before falling.
Origin: South-western North America.
Cultural notes: Full sun to part shade is preferred. Water in well when planting and keep moist until established. Formative pruning helps to promote good branch structure.
Tolerates: A hardy tree. Tolerant of drought and low rainfall climates as well as frost. Is tolerant of sandy and salty found in coastal regions.
Flowering type and season: This tree produces small clusters of flowers with colours of yellow and green. Afterwards producing samara fruit, a small winged seed.
Foliage type and colour: The foliage has a pinnate shape with 5-7 leaflets and slightly serrated edges. It is bright green until autumn when it turns shades a of yellow before falling.
Soil type: Well-draining moist soil is preferred. Sandy or granular soil is preferred.
