Description

Pittosporum tenuifolium (P. nigricans) is a handsome, fast-growing, dense, evergreen shrub or small tree with small, glossy green oval leaves on slender, black, erect branches. Small dark purple flowers generally go unnoticed in the spring. Seaside tolerant. Easily sheared and shaped into a hedge or privacy screen. The leaves of the Kohuhu Pittosporum are larger, have a visible midrib and lateral veins, and are not as shiny as Silver Sheen.

Plant Care

Plant in well-draining soil. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be cut back once established. Fertilize in the spring and prune to shape.
