Description
Global description
Desmodium uncinatum is a perennial, herbaceous, erect plant. The stem is round or slightly angular, covered with hooked hairs. Stipules are quickly deciduous. The leaves are alternate, compound, trifoliate, petiolated with an oval to suborbicular terminal leaflet, 3 to 6 cm long and 1.5 to 2.5 cm wide. The upper surface has a shiny silver spot surrounded by a glossy dark green aureole. It is covered with tuberculate and hooked hairs. The underside is paler with glandular hairs. The margin is ciliated. The flowers are arranged in terminal and axillary racemes. They are grouped by two or more at the insertion points. Pink corolla, measures 10 mm long. The fruit is a sickle pod of 4 to 7 articles, with top edge not scalloped and clearly indented bottom edge, covered with hooked hairs.

The lower face is pale, covered with glandular hairs. The margin is ciliated.

Papilionaceous flowers inserted by 2 or more along the raceme. Calyx in puberulous and hispid tube with a bifid upper lobe, 4 mm long and a trifid lower lobe, middle tine5 mm long and lateral tine3 to 4 mm long. The corolla is pink, 10 mm long.
