The native range of this subspecies is Angola to W. Zambia. It is a perennial or subshrub and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Morphology General Habit
Prostrate perennial (? sometimes annual) herb with prostrate-ascendent branches; stems stellate-setulose to stellate-tomentellous, scabrous, with a few scattered prickles.

Leaf-lamina up to 4 × 4 cm., chartaceous, elliptic to suborbicular in outline, not lobed to 3–5-lobed, scabrous, densely stellate-setulose on both surfaces, apex obtuse, margin crenate-serrulate, base slightly cordate; petiole up to 4 cm. long, hairy like the stems; stipules 3 mm. long, linear to subulate.

Flowers 4–5 cm. in diam., yellow, solitary, axillary; peduncle up to 3·5 cm. long, tomentose or stellate-setose.
