Perennial herb, scrambling to 3 m high; branches white-tomentose.

Leaves lanceolate, 3–18 cm long, 1–5.5 cm wide, base cuneate into a short pseudopetiole but half-clasping the stem proximally, margins crenulate (or entire outside our area), apex acute and mucronate, sparsely pilose above, white-tomentose beneath.

Capitula 7–8 mm long, heterogamous, many together in terminal lax leafy corymbose panicles; stalks of individual capitula 5–10 mm long; phyllaries shiny pale yellow, multiseriate, ovate to lanceolate, 1.5–7.5 mm long, glabrous but for the slightly pilose and glandular stereome, acute; receptacle honeycombed.
