A softly woody short-lived perennial up to 2 m. tall.
Diagnostic
Differs from T. elata and T. heckmanniana in the dense pseudoracemes, shorter than the peduncles, the bracts more often broadly lanceolate or ovate, the hairs on the calyx and pod longer, often of a darker, more brownish yellow, the upper half of the style linear, 0.5–0.6 mm. wide, very shortly pubescent on the upper (adaxial) surface and margins only, glabrous on the lower (abaxial) surface, and the larger aril (± 1.2 mm. long by 0.4 mm. thick).
