Anacardiaceae, Rosette Fernandes and A. Fernandes. Flora Zambesiaca 2:2. 1966

Morphology General Habit
A many-stemmed suffrutex.
Morphology Stem
Stems unbranched or somewhat branched, upright, salmon-pink, 60–90 cm. tall, cylindric, striate, stellate-tomentose to glabrescent.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves arising before the flowers, 3–7-foliolate; petiole and rhachis 13–18 cm. long, subterete, slender, tomentose to glabrescent; lateral and terminal leaflets similar, (4·5)6–10·5 × (2·5)3·2–4·5 cm., roundish, ovate to oblong, contracted at the apex into an acute acumen up to 1 cm. long, rounded or cordate, symmetric or a little asymmetric and petiolulate at the base (lateral petiolules up to 9 mm., the terminal one up to 3 cm. long), membranous to subcoriaceous, at first ± densely rufous-tomentose with slender, long-armed stellate hairs on both surfaces, then glabrescent above and ± arachnoid-tomentose beneath, the margin somewhat incurved in the old leaves; midrib and the arched lateral nerves visible but not prominent above, slightly raised below as also the venation, covered with a tomentum somewhat denser than that of the lamina.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescences 1·5–6 cm. long, spike-like, very compact, densely clustered above the leaf-scars along the leafless stems, with salmon-pink-stellate-tomentose axis.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers
Male flowers in bundles; pedicels 0–1·5 mm. long, tomentose.
sex Male
Male flowers in bundles; pedicels 0–1·5 mm. long, tomentose.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Calyx
Calyx-segments flushed with red, ovate, obtuse, tomentose.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Corolla
Petals yellow flushed with red, c. 3·5 mm. long, oblong, obtuse, constricted at the base.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Fruits
Drupe reddish, 9–10 × 6–7 × 3 mm., oblong, asymmetric, compressed.
