Morphology General Habit
Perennial erect suffruticose herb from a slender woody rootstock.
Morphology Stem
Stems generally annual, terete with slight pale ridges decurrent from the stipule bases, glabrous.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves paripinnate, 6–9 × 1.3–1.8 cm; stipules c.60 × 22 mm, narrowly ovate-triangular, apex acuminate, base rounded to subcordate, asymmetric, surfaces glabrous, margins ciliate with hairs bent near the base at right angles towards the stipule apex; petiolar gland single or occasionally 2 superposed, dark, 1 × 0.4 mm, elliptic, sessile or very shortly stalked, shallowly cup-shaped; rachis channelled, not crested; leaflets in (12)18–24 pairs, 8–14 × 2–4.5 mm, narrowly triangular-oblong, asymmetrical, base asymmetrically truncate, apex acuminate-mucronate, margins ciliate, cilia ascending, surfaces glabrous to sparsely appressed-pubescent; midrib 0.5–0.7 mm from distal margin, 1–2 lateral nerves from base on proximal side of midrib, 3–6 on distal side.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescences axillary, usually 1–2-flowered but in robust plants each pedicel may bear two flowers so that the inflorescence becomes 4-flowered; pedicels 2.2–6 cm long in flower, longer in fruit.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers
Flowers large; sepals long-acuminate, appressed pubescent outside; petals yellow, up to 18 × 10 mm.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Androecium Stamens
Stamens 10.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Gynoecium Pistil
