Sesbania grandiflora
Sesbania grandiflora is the most well-known species of the genus Sesbania. The common name is Agati, but it is called Khae in Thailand. S. grandiflora is a tree that grows up to 15 meters with conspicuous large white or red flowers. White flowers are usually used as a vegetable whereas pink flowers are used as ornamentals.
Tree up to 15 m tall and 30 cm in diameter. Leaf pinnately compound up to 30 cm long including a petiole 7-15 mm long; leaflets 30-60, approx. 1.8-3 cm x 5-10 mm, oblong, rounded to obtuse, glabrous; stipules minute, deciduous. Raceme axillary, 2-4-flowered. Calyx approx. 2.5 cm long, glabrous. Corolla white or pink. Standard up to10 cm x 8 cm. no appendages at the claw, wings up to 10.5 x 3 cm without a basal tooth. Pod linear to slightly falcate, 30-50 cm x 8 mm, glabrous, suture thick.
