  • Distribution: Mediterranean regions, Atlantic Islands and South Europe
  • Description: Sub-shrubs. Leaves alternate, pyramidal or oblong, leaflets subsessile, obovate or elliptic. Inflorescences dichasial. Flowers yellow. Capsules 4 or 5 lobed, 1 or 2 seeded; seeds angled, pitted and brown.

  • Properties & Uses: Stimulant, irritant, abortifacient, and acro-narcotic poison. Dried leaves are used to treat catarrh, dyspepsia, paralysis and also treating in hysteria, amenorrhea and epilepsy. Juice of herb is used to treat earache, headache and rheumatic pain.
