Coleus - Genus

Coleus is a genus of annual or perennial herbs or shrubs, sometimes with fleshy or tuberous peduncles, found in tropical and subtropical African Eurasia.

Plants of this genus are widely cultivated as ornamental plants, especially coleus scutellariioides, which is popular as a garden plant for its brightly colored leaves.

Meanwhile, other plants that produce tubers, such as coleus esculentus, coleus rotundifolius, and coleus maculosus subsp. edulis, are also grown for food.
