Kalanchoe Humilis
Native to Tanzania, Kalanchoe Humilis is a low growing succulent shrub with grey green leaves and maroon spots, growing up to 90cm tall. The inflorescence usually appears in winter, looking more like a dried flower arrangement than anything else. A lot of succulent growers remove the flowers as they are not the calling card for this species. I wait for the flowers to bloom then cut them to make dried flower arrangements that can last for months on end. Cutting the flowers off the plant will also allow it to put more energy into growing, and less into blooming which makes for a happy plant.
Humilis can be prone to pests such as mealy bugs and aphids (the aphids love any new growth or fresh blooms, another reason to trim the flowers off before this occurs.
