Commonly known as the smokebush or smoketree that is an upright, loose spreading multi stemmed deciduous shrub native from southern Europe to Central China. matures to be 10-15' tall and wide and gets the name 'smokebush' when long-lasting, pinkish purple, smoke like airy seed clusters backed by reddish purple foliage create a smoke like appearance, and foliage turns scarlet red in autumn, drama all season long, what fun.
Best planted in a location that provides full sun with evenly, moist, well-drained soil. Once established, can be drought tolerant. Best time for pruning would be late winter into early spring.
